Brecht is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises the towns of Brecht proper, Sint-Job-in't-Goor and Sint-Lenaarts. On January 1st, 2004 Brecht had a total population of 25,908 (12,954 males and 12,954 females). The total area is 90.84 km² which gives a population density of 285.21 inhabitants per km². Brecht was born in Augsburg, Bavaria, studied medicine and worked briefly as an orderly in a hospital in Munich during World War I.
