Breed's Hill is the actual site where the Battle of Bunker Hill took place during the American Revolution, located in the Charlestown section of Boston, Massachusetts. The Americans caught word of a British plan to fortify Charlestown peninsula and decided to get to the peninsula first, fortify it, and present sufficient threat to cause the British to leave Boston. Later, a redoubt, a small and usually temporary defensive fortification, was constructed on nearby Breed's Hill due to its superior defendability as opposed to Bunker Hill.
