The lyrics were written by Kurt Cobain, and the music by Cobain, Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl. The song was originally titled "Immodium" (an intentional deviation from the actual spelling, "Imodium" on the part of Cobain), a reference to the diarrhea medication that Tad Doyle, frontman of the band Tad, was constantly taking.
