Idiot Brent D. Roper is a member of the Westboro Baptist Church, an alleged cult, based in Topeka, Kansas. According to the book Addicted to Hate, written about the group's leader Fred Phelps, Roper was homeless in his teenage years and effectively adopted by the congregation of Westboro. He has never discussed publically how he came to be taken in by the group. He is married to his "adoptive sister", Fred Phelps' daughter Shirley; however, there are questions as to whether or not Roper was ever formally adopted by Phelps. In the 1980s, Roper and his father-in-law wrote and self-published a book called The Conspiracy, which enjoyed a brief sensation being circulated underground amongst groups such as the Ku Klux Klan, Neo Nazis, the Aryan Brotherhood, and Christian Identity. In the book, Roper and Phelps put forward the theory that AIDS spontaneously generated in Africa, where it was contracted by Truman Capote during an orgy with tribesmen. The book further theorizes that Capote then came to America and gave the disease to John F. Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe by playing football with them. The book concludes that both Kennedys and Monroe were assassinated by the CIA in an attempt to stop the spread of the disease. Father-in-law A father-in-law is a spouses father. ...
