Strategically located on the river and the old Dawson stage road, this was a thriving community until the 1950’s when a new highway was built on the other side of the river and the riverboats stopped running.
Sadly, she did not know how much longer she could remain here, as the river was tearing away the bank under her house and, although her family blocked up the house and moved it back this summer, the river was winning.
The scenery, the river and the wildlife were superb, but most of all it was the people we met along the way that made this trip memorable.
