Brigham City is a city located in Box Elder County, Utah. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 17,411. By 2003 its estimated population had decreased slightly to 17,334. It is the county seat of Box Elder County6. It lies on the western slope of the Wellsville Mountains, a branch of the Wasatch Range at the western terminus of Wellsville Canyon.
By 1910 BrighamCity's population was 4,000, and its residents were running local industries and retail businesses as well as operating farms.
BrighamCity's growth rate increased rapidly with the construction in 1957 of Thiokol Chemical Corporation's Wasatch Division, the largest manufacturing enterprise in Box Elder County's history.
Brigham's population of 6,790 in 1950 increased to 11,720 in 1960, to 14,000 in 1970 and to 15,596 in 1980 as both Thiokol's solid-fuel motor production and number of employees expanded.
BrighamCity lies on the western slopes of the Wellsville Mountains, a branch of the Wasatch Range, at the base of a canyon.
BrighamCity is generally considered the northern end of the Wasatch Front.
In the city the population is spread out with 34.2% under the age of 18, 11.1% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 17.4% from 45 to 64, and 12.1% who are 65 years of age or older.
