The term emerged in recent year as a distinction from "merely" green politics. Arguing that environmental sustainability was not itself a sufficient, goal, adherents of the "bright green" school argue that greatly increased (and more widely shared) prosperity must be an equal goal - that the future must be not only green, but bright. Green politics is a body of political ideas informed by environmentalism aimed at developing a sustainable society. ...


Bright green environmentalists tend to be pro-technology (especially green energy, hybrid autos and efficient manufacturing systems, although some also support bio- and nano-technologies), supportive of dense urban settlements, and in favor of green fashion and style.
