Brighton is a small seaside town within the city limits of Dunedin, in New Zealand's South Island. It is located 20 kilometres southwest from the city centre.


The town is named for Brighton in England, and is frequently confused with New Brighton, in Christchurch.

The suburb is divided into three sections spread along the southern coast of Pegasus Bay, known simply as North New Brighton, New Brighton, and South New Brighton, which lies at the northern end of a narrow peninsula between the bay and the estuary of the Avon River.
