Boundaries The constituency is based around the eastern section of Brighton in East Sussex. It also includes the town of Peacehaven. Under previous boundaries Labour gained Kemptown in 1964 and 1966, but it was thought the Tories were strengthened with favourable boundary changes here in 1997, bringing in semi-rural areas outside Brighton. This did not happen as Labour gained the seat in their landslide victory, and have held on since. The Green Party do not do as well here as they have performed in the neighbouring Brighton Pavilion constituency.
