The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is the public corporation which oversees and regulates all aspects of aviation in the UK. It was established in 1972. The main act of parliament regulating aviation in the UK is the Civil Aviation Act 1982. The CAA regulates all aspects on avation in the UK. they also oversee the ATOL. The ATOL licence offers financial protection for airlines. e.g. If you fly abroad with a airline and whilst you are on holiday they go bust.
