The British Columbia general election of 1928 was the seventeenth general election in the Province of British Columbia, Canada. It was held to elect members of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia. The election was called on June 7, 1928, and held on July 18, 1928. The new legislature met for the first time on January 22, 1929. From 1928 to 1952 by-election results are to be found in a publication entitled Summary of Votes which appears to be a retrospective compilation by the Elections Branch of general and by-election results based upon official figures.
The 1900 general election is also significant in that although the traditional division of Government and Opposition was still present, party grouping were beginning to play a role and it foreshadowed the election of 1903 along full party lines.
The remainder of the by-elections -- 117 -- were held to fill seats vacated because of death (43 by-elections, 44 seats), voided elections (3), resignations for reasons other than being appointed to Cabinet (64), and the reinstatement of an Electoral District before a general election (1).
