This is a list of comedians of British birth or famous mainly in Britain. Many of the comedypanel-game regulars and sitcom actors may not be regarded as comedians by some people but they are included here because this page uses the word "comedian" in its broadest possible sense.
BritishComedy, in film, radio and television, is known for its consistently quirky characters, plots and settings, and has produced some of the most famous and memorable comic actors and characters in the last fifty years.

The British fashion scene also plays a part in the success of certain films, the costume designs and the set designs are usually made by British designers and this really shows in the end effect.
