Senator Bronson M. Cutting (1888-1935) was a Progressive Republican politician from New Mexico.


Cutting, published the "Santa Fe New Mexican", served in WWI, returned to New Mexico where he became involved in politics, and in 1927 was appointed to fill the unexpired term of the recently deceased senior US senator. Cutting is perhaps best known as the most prominent Anglo who sought to bring Hispanic voters into the political mainstream, prior to the New Deal.

At the time the cutting of exposed trees in Broward County was halted in November 2000, the Department estimated that 80,000 citrus trees still had to be removed.
The eradication program increased its cutting area from 125 feet around infected trees to 1,900 feet in January 2000 following scientific research which indicated the 1,900-foot area was the most conservative possible if eradication were to be achieved.
Bronson says the Department must follow the scientific protocol necessary to eradicate this disease.
