Brookeborough, a picturesque, immaculately presented village in the North East of the county was named after Sir Henry Brooke who was granted the village in 1666 and settled in Colebrooke Park nearby.
The high street is wide and airy, its houses prettily painted and even though several dwelling houses and shops were demolished in the late 1970s to provide new Trust housing, some attractive architectural features such as oriel windows and bay windows are preserved.
