Brooksville is a town located in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 90.


Geography

Brooksville is located at 35°12'53" North, 96°58'9" West (35.214609, _96.969304)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 7.7 km˛ (3.0 mi˛). 7.7 km˛ (3.0 mi˛) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 90 people, 32 households, and 23 families residing in the town. The population density is 11.7/km˛ (30.4/mi˛). There are 42 housing units at an average density of 5.5/km˛ (14.2/mi˛). The racial makeup of the town is 35.56% White, 38.89% African American, 12.22% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 13.33% from two or more races. 3.33% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 32 households out of which 43.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.4% are married couples living together, 12.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.1% are non-families. 28.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.81 and the average family size is 3.22.


In the town the population is spread out with 38.9% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 18.9% from 25 to 44, 18.9% from 45 to 64, and 15.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 80.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 77.4 males.


The median income for a household in the town is $45,625, and the median income for a family is $45,417. Males have a median income of $51,250 versus $38,750 for females. The per capita income for the town is $15,667. 15.4% of the population and 18.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 30.0% of those under the age of 18 and 0.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
