Brookwood is a town (or village, as it likes to be known) in Surrey, located about 5 km west of Woking, in a semi-rural location. It lies on the western border of the Woking Borough (with a small part of the 'village' actually in Guildford Borough). Surrey is a county in southern England, part of the South East England region and one of the Home Counties. ... Nearby, across the railway to the South, is the village of Pirbright, while Pirbright and Deepcut Army Camps are a short distance away. Knaphill, and its Brookwood Manor, lie across the main A322 road. Nearby is the vast cemetery and Sheets Heath - offering some escape from urban sprawl.


The town of Brookwood borders the Basingstoke Canal which has a flight of locks here. Brookwood railway station is on the South Western Main Line (currently averaging 4 trains an hour each way!). Brookwood is easily reached from London (30mins+ direct train), a handful of miles to the M3 (north) and A3 (south), it is ideally located for London commuters.


The main Road is Connaught Road, a long road containing mixed Victorian Terraces, Victorian/30s/50s/70s Semis, and a regular bus service o Guildford, Woking and Farnborough. Branching off are smaller cul-de-sacs (Heath Drive, Connaught Crescent, et al) with more modern houses, some which back onto the Canal itself.


The village has grown over the 150 or so years since the cemetery and station first set roots in this area. The station and nearby pub age at least 100 years old - maybe older. (The pub, known as The Brookwood Hotel - offers beer, food some of the time and accomodation). Other facilities, range from a second drinking establishment in the form of a working mens club; the top quality Red House Chinese take-away; the superb and award winning Mogul Indian restaurant; a launderette; newsagents and a chippy. And of course, Fulks Brothers - a traditional top quality butcher (also with a branch in Pirbright).

Brookwood Cemetery is a burial ground in Brookwood, Surrey, England.
Also known as the London Necropolis, it was established by the London Necropolis Company in 1852 to house London's dead, since the capital was finding it difficult to locate the increasing population, both of living and dead.
It was situated close to Woking, Surrey, and was accessible only by rail from a special cemetery station — the London Necropolis railway station — next to Waterloo.
