Critical response

The show's first season was distributed to critics as a DVD boxset before airing and received a largely positive response. The show has been criticised as lacking the humorous approach of Italian-American gangster stories like A Bronx Tale, Goodfellas, and The Sopranos.[1]

Despite having a total viewership of 540,000, Showtime has renewed the series for a second season to air in Summer 2007.[2]

Production notes

Showtime parent company CBS aired a single showing of the pilot episode of Brotherhood to try and increase viewer interest.[3] It drew in over 3 million viewers, but the numbers were still very low.

Some scenes were filmed at the Olneyville New York System Restaurant in Providence, Rhode Island. [4]
