Browns Lake is a census-designated place and neighborhood located in Racine County, Wisconsin around a lake of the same name. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 1,933. It is politically a part of Burlington Township with Bohners Lake, Wisconsin


Geography

Browns Lake is located at 42°41'15" North, 88°14'14" West (42.687609, _88.237143)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 7.2 km˛ (2.8 mi˛). 5.6 km˛ (2.2 mi˛) of it is land and 1.6 km˛ (0.6 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 21.94% water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,933 people, 745 households, and 545 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 343.9/km˛ (892.6/mi˛). There are 975 housing units at an average density of 173.5/km˛ (450.2/mi˛). The racial makeup of the CDP is 96.53% White, 0.16% African American, 0.05% Native American, 0.88% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.55% from other races, and 0.83% from two or more races. 2.85% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 745 households out of which 31.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.5% are married couples living together, 7.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.8% are non-families. 21.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.51 and the average family size is 2.92.


In the CDP the population is spread out with 23.2% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 28.8% from 25 to 44, 28.1% from 45 to 64, and 13.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 101.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 100.3 males.


The median income for a household in the CDP is $59,563, and the median income for a family is $65,714. Males have a median income of $44,940 versus $26,116 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $28,368. 1.3% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 0.0% of those under the age of 18 and 6.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
