Bruff Rugby Football Club
Created in late 1969-early 1970, Bruff Rugby Union Football Club was created by two G.A.A. Players, Willie Conway and Nicholas Cooke. Its first game was played in the field to the rear of the church in the town watched by nearly the entire village. Early in the 1970's the Club President. Lt. Col. The O' Grady, donated a gate-lodge to his estate as a dressing room and sold a pitch to the club for the princely sum of £1. The club grounds at Kilballyowen Park presently include an area of approximately 13 acres, with 3 full pitches, all of which are proposed to be fully floodlit to match standard during the coming year.
