Brum Beat is the name of a magazine about the music within Birmingham, United Kingdom. It started as Midlands Beat, by Jim Simpson, who sold it to its latter editor, Steve Morris, who in turn converted it into a website. Birmingham (pron. ... Founder of The Flea Theater in New York City. ...


It was also a name coined in the late 60's for the many Birmingham beat bands of that time, more recently a myspace page has evolved in the same spirit as the original publication listing new bands, gig dates and events as well as featuring new up and coming Birmingham music.

I have to admit, I don't listen to 50s or 60s music from any part of the world, much less the Midlands, but I thought the new Brumbeat CD set would be worth having anyway.
I know fully well, in the end, this will eventually sit with the CDs that rarely get touched, but I'm finding a lot to like about this.
