Hitch is famous for his "widescreen" art. His trademarks are highly detailed, but dynamic double-splash pages and his emotive facial close-ups. They convey the feeling that one is watching a big-budget Hollywood movie. His run on JLA was riddled with fill-in artists, and while he's drawn every issue of The Ultimates, there are frequently months between issues. He's completed 24 issues of the series in roughly 5 years, far below the average for most artists in the industry although there was a several month gap between the first and second volumes of the series. This lateness has been explained by co-worker Brian Michael Bendis as a result of his busy homelife. In the months following the start of Ultimates his wife gave birth to their first child.
