NFL career McKinnie was the 7th overall pick in the 2002 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings, and has been the starting left tackle for the Vikings since his rookie season, in which he held out until mid-November. Some say his 2005 performance was worthy of a Pro Bowl trip, although he did not receive one. Many are expecting the addition of two Pro Bowl linemen to the Vikings line, (Steve Hutchinson next to him on left guard and center Matt Birk, who is returning in 2006 from injury) to boost McKinnie's performance even more in the 2006 season.
