Buckner is Most Noted in Southern Illinois for its debt to the Rend Lake Conservancy District in the year 2005, Which Totaled more than $14,000 according to Jim Muir of the Southern Illinoisan newspaper.

There were 235 housing units at an average density of 101.9/km² (265.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.33% White, 0.84% Native American, and 0.84% from two or more races.
