Life

Buddhadeva Bose was born in Comilla, now in Bangladesh. He was educated in Dhaka. After completing his MA in English from the University of Dhaka, he moved to Calcutta. He taught at Ripon College and later worked as a journalist. Subsequently, he set up the Department of Comparative literature in Jadavpur University, and was on its faculty for a number of years. Jadavpur University (JU) is a premier educational and research institution in India. ...


Bose received the Sahitya Akademi award in 1967, and was honoured with a Padma Bhushan in 1970.
