Budějovicky Budvar is a smooth, slighly malty Czech beer produced in Ceske Budejovice, also known as "Budweis" in German. For a time the town was the royal brewery for the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, and beer from Budweis, or "United States, this beer is sold under the names "Budvar" and "Czechvar", as the name "Budweiser" is registered as a trademark by Anheuser-Busch.


The Budvar brewery offers free tours.

Since both Budějovický Budvar and Anheuser-Busch have trademarks for the name "Budweiser", they have been party to many lawsuits in a number of countries.
