Bunceton, about 30 miles southwest of Columbia, is not what it used to be.
The population declined from 693 in 1930 to 437 in 1970.
Lenz and other longtime Bunceton residents find it difficult to pinpoint when their downtown took its downturn, forcing farmers and everyone else to start shopping in bigger cities.
