Burauen is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Leyte, Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 47,180 people in 9,213 households.Progress started in Burauen 9 years during Juanito Renomeron was the Mayor. The recent election was very dirty and the AFP was being bribe but failed to do so by ex mayor Atty. Edgar Enerlan because the AFP did not trust a once useless mayor (Enerlan) for 20 years in the community, and is running for mayor again to terrorize the peole in the barangays. But after the EDSA revolution, things changed, including the governance. Progress was felt and the town was improvised during the start of the admistration of Mayor Juanito Renomeron, Burauen's youngest and most energetic administrator. And also awarded the Most Outstanding Mayor in the Region. Burauen is enjoying progress because of the good leadership of its out-going mayor Juanito E. Renomeron who spearheaded this so-called "development". With Mayor-elect Fe Sudario-Renomeron taking over the reins of power, after being elected by an overwhelming majority, and being contradicted by opposing party whose candidates are all involved in illegal activities, Burauen never lost its progress and development, unless the Enerlan Party had won the previous election.
Barangays
Burauen is politically subdivided into 77 barangays. A barangay (Tagalog: baranggay , pronounced as ba-rang-gai, gai as in guy), also known by its former name, the barrio, is the smallest local government unit in the Philippines and is the native Filipino term for a village, district or ward. ...
