The Bureau of Meteorology is an Australian government organisation responsible for providing weather services to Australia and surrounding areas. It was established in 1906 under the Meteorology Act, by formerly bringing together the colonial/state meteorological services that existed before then. It is now the main provider of weather forecasts, warnings and observations to the public. Its main office is in Melbourne, with regional offices in each state capital and Darwin. Each Regional Office includes a Regional Forecasting Centre and a [Flood] Warning Centre, and the Perth, Darwin and Brisbane offices also house Tropical Cyclone Warning Centres. The Darwin office also serves as the Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre. We use it to monitor incoming storms and can shut down our systems just before the lightning is about to pass over us.
Once you're at the page, there are navigational links for the rest of the bureau's site and you can configure to see the weather in your region no matter where you are in this wide, brown land.
