Burke is a town located in Dane County, Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,990.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 50.5 km² (19.5 mi²). 50.5 km² (19.5 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 2,990 people, 1,148 households, and 862 families residing in the town. The population density is 59.2/km² (153.4/mi²). There are 1,208 housing units at an average density of 23.9/km² (62.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 96.15% White, 0.90% African American, 0.27% Native American, 1.04% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.43% from other races, and 1.20% from two or more races. 1.57% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,148 households out of which 33.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.9% are married couples living together, 5.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.9% are non-families. 17.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
