Burkettsville is a village located in Darke and Mercer counties in Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 254.


Geography

Burkettsville is located at 40°21'8" North, 84°38'38" West (40.352166, _84.643911)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.4 km˛ (0.2 mi˛). None of the area is covered with water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 254 people, 94 households, and 72 families residing in the village. The population density is 576.9/km˛ (1,531.5/mi˛). There are 99 housing units at an average density of 224.8/km˛ (596.9/mi˛). The racial makeup of the village is 98.82% White, 0.00% African American, 0.39% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.79% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 94 households out of which 34.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.0% are married couples living together, 8.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.4% are non-families. 22.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.70 and the average family size is 3.19.


In the village the population is spread out with 21.3% under the age of 18, 15.7% from 18 to 24, 27.6% from 25 to 44, 19.3% from 45 to 64, and 16.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 106.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 106.2 males.


The median income for a household in the village is $45,833, and the median income for a family is $51,250. Males have a median income of $31,827 versus $19,688 for females.
