Fares As of February 18, 2005, adult cash fare is $2.35. Discounts are available to children (ages 0–5), elementary school students, high school students, and seniors (ages 65 and older). Instead of tickets and passes, Burlington Transit uses a ComboCard, which feels like a plastic credit card. It can be used as a monthly pass or as a set of tickets. The card is scanned when boarding, and depending on how the card is being used, either a reduced fare rate is deducted from the card balance, or the card acts as a monthly pass. During summer months, fares have been reduced in off-peak hours, such as weekday evenings, to rates, such as a dollar, or a combo card will not deduct after three rides in a day.
