Burma Area Army was a Japanese army organized 18 March 1943 to unify the command of the 15th and 28th Armies in Burma. Its first commander was Masakazu Kawabe (18 March 1943 - 30 August 1944) followed by General Hyotaro Kimura (30 August 1944 - 12 September 1945). Masakazu Kawabe (1886 - 1965) was a Japanese officer during World War II. He reached the rank of Chujo (Lieutenant General) and was the Chief of Staff of the Japanese Central Chinese Army until March 1943 when he was appointed Commander in Chief of the Burma Area Army. ...
