Burnin' Sky was recorded in France at Chateau d'Herouville (a/k/a Honky Chateau) in July and August of 1976 with future Rolling Stones engineer Chris Kimsey but its release was delayed until March of 1977 as to not compete with the band's then-current album Run With the Pack. Run With the Pack is Bad Companys third album. ...


The album peaked at a disappointing #15 on the Billboard's Pop Albums chart (North America) but was the band's fourth consecutive U.S. Gold certified album.


The album's only single was the title cut which peaked at #78 on the singles chart.


The album was remastered and re-released in 1994.

If any song off Burnin' Sky could have been a hit, this is the one I would have selected.
Actually, the immediate followup, "Morning Sun," is the better of the two tracks (featuring some tasty 12-string acoustic work from Ralphs), but to the AM market of the time, such a song might have been seen as too slow to be a hit.
The biggest problem with Burnin' Sky is that it sounds like it's a very tentative album.
