Burscough were formed after the Second World War in 1946 and entered the Lancashire Combination. In only their second season, they won three trophies and in 1952 won the Liverpool Challenge Cup for the second time. In 1955-56 Burscough won the Combination's First Division, which contained the now Premiership side Wigan Athletic. In 1959 they reached the First Round Proper of the F.A.
