C.L. "Butch" Otter, (born May 3, 1942) is an American Republican politician from Idaho. He has been a member of the United States House of Representatives since being first elected in 2000. Otter's business experience includes spending 30 years with the J.R. Simplot Company, a livestock and feeding operation. Otter's public service includes serving as Lieutenant Governor of Idaho and a member of the Idaho State House of Representatives. He has also held senior positions within the Republican Party. Otter's first bid for elective office was in 1972 when he was elected a member of the Idaho State House of Representatives from Canyon County.
