Generation One (1984)

In the original Transformers toyline Buzzsaw is a golden condor who transforms into a cassette tape. Buzzsaw was packaged as a Hasbro toy with Soundwave. Buzzsaw worked in tandem with Soundwave, Laserbeak, Ravage, Rumble, Frenzy, and Ratbat. Buzzsaw posesses a microserated beak that can slice through most surfaces and provides his name. Buzzsaw is identical in appearance to Laserbeak, but not related. Buzzsaw is far braver than the cowardly Laserbeak. Buzzsaw was capable of speech in the comic book, but not on the cartoon. On the cartoon, Buzzsaw was rarely used most likely due to his appearnce being so similar to Laserbeak. Like Laserbeak, Ravage, and Ratbat, Buzzsaw exceled in espionage due to his small animal form. Bio:


Hunts enemy Maximals from altitudes of 20,000 feet. Buzz Saw can exit Earth's atmosphere at any time, but prefers hunting land-based enemies where it has the advantage of flight. Known to gang up on victims with its evil partner, the wicked Waspinator.


Beast Machines

In the Beast Machines toyline, Buzzsaw is the name of a Maximal who transforms into a techno-organic wasp. It has been speculated that he may in fact be the Predacon character from Beast Wars. Saved by Rattrap from the effects of the conversion freezing virus, Buzzsaw is grateful to the Maximal cause. Impressive aerial abilities and tendency towards gossip make him an excellent reconnaissance scout - likes to be the buzz about town. Multi-function stonger can pierce even the most impenetrable armor and functions as a highly sensitive receiver/transmitter. Slightly proud, often heard referring to himself as "the bee's knees", a statement none of his Maximal associates can discern.


Transformers: Armada

In the Transformers: Armada series, Buzzsaw is the name of a Mini-Con, a member of the Destruction Team.

Transformers: Cybertron

In the Transformers: Cybertron (called Transformers: Galaxy Force in Japan) series, Buzzsaw is again the name of a Decepticon. This character transforms into a helicopter, and is a recolor of the Armada Cyclonus toy, with a new head design, and is an homage to Beast Wars Buzz Saw.

Despite the evacuation of CYBERTRON, and the incredible danger presented by the black hole, many of the bravest, craziest or most foolish stayed behind. BUZZSAW is one of the crazies, a dangerous rogue from the DECEPTICON old guard who intends to hoard as much of the planet's Energon as he can for himself, hoping to gain enough power to destroy the AUTOBOTS upon their return! For now, he is content to lurk in the abandoned cities of CYBERTRON, practicing his marksmanship by blowing the tops off the old Energon Towers.
