Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 57.4 km² (22.2 mi²). 54.6 km² (21.1 mi²) of it is land and 2.9 km² (1.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 5.00% water. It is divided into several sections, based around the various lakes in the area. They include Lake Lackawanna, Cranberry Lake, Forest Lakes, Lake Mohawk and East Brookwood. Byram does not have a post office and residents can use either Stanhope, Andover, or Sparta as their mailing address depending on which side of town they live on.
