THE POWER (2146 words)
The most obvious role model's for Haskin's work are The 39 Steps (35), Saboteur (42) and especially North by Northwest (produced for MGM), with their recurring themes of an innocent man framed for murder and being forced on the run (with a reluctant female accomplice) in order to discover the true perpetrator of the crime.
This being a George Pal/Byron Haskin picture, however, there are a number of twists to the familiar format, placing it within the SF genre.
Haskin also throws in the odd visual flourish such as a piece of paper spinning on a pencil becomes a record on a turntable in the next shot.
