Encyclopedia > CBC Radio 2

CBC Radio Two is a radio network in Canada, operated by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Its programming focus is on arts and culture, including opera and classical music.

Prior to 1997, CBC Radio Two was known as CBC Stereo, while CBC Radio One was known as CBC Radio. This reflected the former distinction between Radio One's status as an AM radio network and Radio Two's status as an FM radio network. However, many of the old AM stations had moved to FM in the 1990s, so in that year the CBC rebranded the networks as Radio One and Radio Two.

Radio Two has a more consistent national schedule than Radio One, with only one hour each week devoted to distinct regional programming.
