The Terry Fox was built in 1983 at the Victoria Yard of the Burrard Yarrrows Corporation located in British Columbia, Canada. During the 1980s, The Terry Fox and the Arctic Kalvik supported Gulf Canada's oil operations in the Beaufort Sea.
