Controversy CDI College's advertisements are not specific to their local markets, and in many cases the courses they advertise are not available in the cities in which they are being advertised. Some employers may not hire CDI College graduates as they may question the schools credentials. Some courses such as medical assistance or accounting at CDI College are not recognized in Canada and students may have to take a government test. Some students are dissatisfied with the quality of education offered at CDI College and have dropped out, only to discover that they will not receive a refund of their tuition fees. Aaron Laforest was the first dissatisfied CDI College student of 2006 to successfully sue CDI College for false advertising and misrepresentation.[1] CDI has been ordered to pay him $5,000 in expenses and damages. The judge said he agrees with Laforest -- that CDI did not deliver as promised and was in breach of contract.
