The Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (Tracked) —or CVR(T)—is a family of armored fighting vehicles in service with the British Army and others throughout the world. More than 3,000 CVR(T)s were manufactured by Alvis Vickers.
The FV430s out-of-service date would be moved from 2014 to somewhere between 2020 and 2023, depending on the FRES fielding.
CVR(T) wil get upgrades for better survivability, Bowman digital communications and the replacement in 2008 of the ancient Swingfire anti-tank missile with the U.S.-developed Javelin weapon.
FV430, which could be in service with the British for nearly 60 years if it runs on to 2023, may have a series of modifications, mainly aimed at replacing obsolescent or aging parts.
