Calheta (pron. IPA: /kɐ'ʎetɐ) is a parish in the western part of Madeira. Its parish population is 3,105 and the borough is 11,946. Its area is 115.65 km². It is located W of Santana, W of Machico, and 32 WNW of Funchal. It is linked with a road linking northeast to Santana and southeast to Funchal. It is the western parish in the Madeira Island. The area is famous for its yachts. The sands from the Sahara Desert affects the area with dust clouds.
