Encyclopedia > California State Highway 38

California State Highway 38 is a somewhat indirect and mostly scenic route that begins at CA-18 near the Big Bear Lake Dam. 38 first heads north and then east along the north shore of the lake. It then heads south through Big Bear City where it is co-signed briefly with 18. The highway then swings east and then south where it descends the southern face of the San Bernardino Mountains near Angelus Oaks. CA-38 then turns due west along Mill Creek and Mountain Home Village before leaving the San Bernardino National Forest and terminating at Interstate 10 in Redlands just east of the CA-30 interchange.
