California State Route 16 is a state highway in Northern California that runs 82 miles, from Clear Lake, California to Amador City, California. It is discontinuous near Sacramento, California, being routed unsigned via Interstate 5 and U.S. Highway 50. Northern California (sometimes NorCal or NoCal) refers to the northern portion of the U.S. state of California, roughly covering all of those counties except for the ten counties which make up Southern California. ... The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), which represents the state departments of transportation in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, wants to “Celebrate the Interstate!” both nationally and in individual states.
California is itself commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Interstate Highway System on June 16, 2006, at San Francisco’s Lincoln Park, which was the western terminus of one of America’s best-known historic roads, the Lincoln Highway.
