Calmay is one of the 22 barangays of Laoac in the Province of Pangasinan. Originally, Calmay was part of Manaoag, and Laoac was still a barangay of the later until 1980. Calmay is the second largest barangay of Laoac after Cabilaoan. A man-made canal or irrigation serves as its boundary in the eastern side, and the Angalacan River in the western side. Agriculture is the major source of income of the folks. Around 70% of its land area is an agricultural land suited for all kinds of crops.

According to its unwritten history, the first settlers were migrants from the Ilocos provinces. They occupied the central portion of the land where a creek flowed dividing the entire area into two, the western and the eastern. They cultivated the land and established their first community of purely of their relatives, particularly the Galas' and the Cuaresma's.

Today, Calmay is considered as the major crossroad between Manaoag and Laoac, and recognized as one of the developing barangays of Laoac.
