Early Life and Junior Career

Although born in Toronto, Calum MacKay grew up in Fort William/Port Arthur, Ontario during the 1930s and early 1940s. By age 16, he was already skating for the Port Arthur Bruins of the TBJHL. In all, he played for three seasons with the local club before rounding out his junior career with the Oshawa Generals of the OHA in 1945-46. Professional Career

MacKay started his professional career by playing 5 games for the Detroit Red Wings in 1947. The next season he splits his time between the Omaha Knights of the USHL and the Indianapolis Capitals of the AHL. In 1949 He was called up to Detroit for 1 game before being sent back to Indianapolis. In 1950 He joined the Montreal Canadiens where he played 3 years before being sent to the Buffalo Bisons for most of 1952 and all of 1953. He re-joined Montreal for the 1953 playoffs where He helped the Habs win the Stanley Cup defeating the Boston Bruins in the final. He played 2 more seasons for the Canadiens before He suffered a knee injury on September 30, 1955 during training camp. The Detroit Red Wings are an NHL franchise located in Detroit, Michigan. ...
