Camp Meeker, California is an unincorporated village located on the Bohemian Highway, between Occidental and Monte Rio. With its small population, it is overlooked by many visitors to Sonoma County. Amidst the redwoods surrounding the Dutch Bill Creek tributary, it gets a considerable amount of rainfall during the winter season. Camp Meeker takes its name from Melvin Meeker, a lumberjack who logged in the area between the train station and westward to the Pacific Ocean. It is often affectionately called 'Damp Sneaker' by the locals.


Like many other towns in West Sonoma County, Camp Meeker was a vacation place for people who took the train from San Francisco around 1900. A century or so later, it is undeveloped and overlooked. It is the home of St. Dorothy's Rest. [1] This page is a candidate for speedy deletion. ...
