Grenade Attack

Camp Pennsylvania came under heavy grenade fire by an unknown attacker from within the compound on the March 23, 2003. The attack caught the 101st Airborne off guard, as security on the base is heavy. During the attack, two men were killed, and 14 wounded. Shortly after, a US soldier Hassan Akbar, assigned to the 326th Engineer Battalion of the 101st Airborne, was found and arrested for the attacks. The attack, which was witnessed by embedded reporters, was widely reported in the international media. Camp Hill is a borough in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, 2 miles (3.5 km) southwest of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
About 3.6% of families and 3.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 5.5% of those under age 18 and 4.4% of those age 65 or over.
Camp Hill was incorporated as a borough on November 10, 1885 from East Pennsboro Township.
