A female monster in Greek mythology, Campe ("crooked") guarded the Hecatonchires and Cyclopes in Tartarus after Cronus imprisoned them there; she was killed by Zeus when he rescued his uncles for help in the Titanomachy. Campe was a she-dragon with a woman's head and a scorpion-like tail. Monster is a term for any number of legendary creatures that frequently appear in mythology, legend, and horror fiction. ...
